A lot of brass and fine sounds

Bozen Brass is an extraordinary brass quintet which does not fit into traditional patterns. They are curiously different, the 5 musicians from South Tyrol, and always ready for a surprise.

Norbert Fink (french horn), Stefan Mahlknecht (trombone), Robert Neumair (trumpet), Toni Pichler (tuba) und Anton Ludwig Wilhalm (trumpet) have made up Bozen Brass since 2003 and they are ready for take off to new dimensions.

Solid musical education in national and international universities combined with practice in international orchestras and ensembles are the basis for their activities.

They are a labour of love for music and enthusiastic musicians, and they are keen to pass these virtues to their music pupils.

That is why they are able to produce the finest sounds with their brass instruments. The audience is invited to follow them on a powerful journey through musical history covering all kinds of musical styles.

The music

Bozen Brass is not limited to one specific musical style. There repertoire goes from "baroque to blues" and lets them reach a broad audience.

They are perfectly able to offer this broad range in music even with genuine instruments fitting the time, the piece of music was composed. Music from baroque, renaissance and opera, presented in a black suit, is a reference to the classic musical education.

But five brass instruments are made for even more. Courageously and unconventially they switch to jazz, pop and rock, making appear stars such as Sting or Michael Jackson on stage.

The ultimate kick comes from time to time when Robert Neumair takes his seat behind the drumset.

Alpine brass songs are also part of their repertoire, just like a polka with vocals or a solo by Robert Neumair and his accordion.

A lot of pieces are especially written or arranged for Bozen Brass. Robert Neumair is the most busy composer, but Anton Ludwig Wilhalm is also responsible for some arrangements.

...and even more than music

Challenging pieces of music played well - that is fine, but not enough for Bozen Brass.

A concert is not only made for the audience's ears. The eyes shall also have some fun. And if the audience's breath is caught sometimes - perfect!

They are dancing and stepping on stage, a perfect choreography makes the musicians swap places and positions.

Of course this comes with the corresponding outfit. Guess what is required for the programme "black or white"?

Cats or chicken also appear on stage with Bozen Brass. The musicians can take a joke - you will be aware of it when listening to their speeches. Anything goes, even a joke with a wink.

And if the concert is not "just" in a concert hall, but at an extraordinary place, the musicians will remember it for a very long time.
